How to Measure Your Ring Size: A Simple Guide for the Perfect Fit
Share
Finding the perfect ring is a beautiful feeling - whether it's a treat for yourself or a surprise for someone special. But before you click “add to cart,” it’s important to make sure you have the right ring size. A well-fitted ring not only feels good but also looks elegant on your hand.
Don’t worry - measuring your ring size at home is easier than you think. This guide will take you through it step-by-step, so your next piece from Gitsu fits just right.
What You’ll Need:
Before you start, get a few simple tools ready:
-
A soft measuring tape or a piece of string
-
A ruler with millimetre (mm) markings
A pen (if you’re using string)
Step 1: Choose the Finger
Pick the exact finger you want to wear the ring on. Sounds obvious, right? But here’s the thing-your fingers aren’t all the same size. Even your left and right hands can be different. So if you’re planning to wear the ring on your right ring finger, don’t measure your left one.
Also, make sure your hands are at a normal temperature. Cold fingers can be smaller, and warm ones may swell a little.
Step 2: Wrap and Measure
Now that you’ve chosen the finger, take your soft measuring tape and gently wrap it around the base of the finger. It should not be tight.
If you’re using a piece of string:
-
Wrap the string around your finger.
-
Mark where the string overlaps.
-
Lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres with your ruler.
That number is the circumference of your finger. You can use a ring size chart online to match your measurement to the correct ring size. Or, if you're shopping on Gitsu, refer to our size guide for the perfect match.
Step 3: Think About the Style
The style of the ring can change how it fits. For example, wider bands usually feel a bit tighter than slimmer ones. If you're looking at a bold statement ring, you might want to go up half a size for comfort.
If you already own a ring that fits well, compare the band width with the new one you’re eyeing. That way, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect.
Step 4: Measure at the Right Time
Did you know your fingers change size throughout the day?
It’s best to measure your ring size in the evening, when your fingers are at their largest. Also, avoid measuring right after you wake up or when it’s cold outside—your fingers might be smaller than usual at those times.
Step 5: When in Doubt, Ask a Pro
If you're unsure about your measurements or confused between two sizes - it’s a good idea to visit a jewellery store. Most stores will happily measure your ring size for free.
At Gitsu, we also have a friendly customer care team ready to help you figure out your best fit.
Step 6: Check for Resizing Options
Sometimes, even after measuring carefully, you may need a small adjustment. That’s pretty normal.
Many brands, including Gitsu, offer resizing options. We want you to feel confident and comfortable wearing your jewellery every day.
